Thea With Love is a small family business created by artist and graphic designer, Jan with the support of her daughters, Lilly and Grace.

When Lilly was pregnant in 2017 she really wanted for her first child quality-made products such as clothing, swaddles and prints that reflected the environment she grew up in. She asked, ‘while rabbits and foxes are cute where are the possums, echidnas and koalas? What about the magic of wattle and wildflowers blooming in spring?’

Lilly asked her Mum to design something, but Jan had taken time off graphic design to work on other projects.

Half way through Lilly’s pregnancy they found out that her baby girl, Dorothea, had a life-threatening condition called congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). After a beautiful pregnancy and birth, Dorothea passed away when she was just a day old.

In grieving for Dorothea, Jan and her family discovered that with unbearable grief also comes joy and love, which often inspires and brings people together. Working through the pain of losing her granddaughter, Jan in conversation with Lilly and Grace, rekindled the idea of Australian-inspired products for little ones to keep Dorothea’s memory alive.

Since then, Jan has been busy capturing the beauty and uniqueness of the Australian environment and transferring this to a wide range of clothing, swaddles and prints for babies and beyond. Lilly and Grace have also been busy—each recently giving birth to baby girls only a few months apart.

The gift of these baby girls, along with Dorothea and the unique Australian environment, inspire Jan, Grace and Lilly so that Thea With Love can continue to create beautiful products for you and the little ones you love and care for.
